This is no joke, friends! What we have here is a Pink Lady page that's NOT about Pink Lady! Contrary to popular belief, PL wasn’t the only act Japanese music fans dearly loved during the time they spent in the limelight (1976-81), though they may well have been the most famous during that span. There were scores of other singers and groups who were equally as popular as Mie and Kei and enjoyed their fair share of fame and success, some of whom remain popular with longtime fans to this very day while others were swept away by the currents of history and altogether forgotten. The purpose of this page is to highlight some of the singers and groups who enjoyed their fifteen minutes of fame during the years when Pink Lady ruled the J-Pop roost, and to feature groups that came after Mie and Kei who followed in the steps of Pink Lady to also enjoy enormous fame. While my overall knowledge of these stars may not be as extensive as what I’ve produced for PL, I think you’ll find what I have to bring you both informative and entertaining. Oh, and if anyone out there wants to contribute to this feature, then by all means, drop me a line at treetop.jeff@verizon.net and we’ll chat. In the meantime, enjoy! |
