PEPPER KEIBU: THE DEBUT ALBUM

Ladies and Gentlemen… Pink Lady fans of all ages… it is time once again for The Trooper’s Review! This month’s Pink Lady Review subject is their debut album: “Pepper Keibu” (the Holy Grail of Pink Lady music)!
Pepper Keibu (title track)
Nothing beats the original, especially with the background vocals that make it sound so powerful.
Inspiration
This was an easy-going song with a slow-rock feel. Keiko “Kei” Masuda sang the lead vocals for this track. As I said before in my “Pink Tribute” rap song, Kei always kept it mellow.
Your Toast Girl
This song is extremely powerful. I still remember their live performance of this song from UFO Concert 2 (27-May-2005).
Pink Apple (Pinku No Ringo)
This is a very cute song; it tickled me absolutely pink, especially the chorus.
Depressing Day
Mitsuyo “Mie” Nemoto sang the lead vocals for this slow song… and dare I say (although I understand very little Japanese), the title of this song speaks for itself.
SOS
Oh no! It seems like some of our fellow fans have passed out! Wait – they don’t need a doctor; they need Pink Lady! This song will nurse you back to health! Sutekina tsuitachi o (Have a nice day)!
I Only Want To Be With You
This was an excellent (and very lively) cover of a Dusty Springfield classic.
Keep On Dancing
Another song with a classic 1960s-style rock-n-roll feel.
Money Honey
Hmm… hard guitars and psychedelic outer-space sounds… accompanied by elegant vocals from Mie & Kei.
Angel Baby
The beginning of this song sounded almost like something out of Grease… but then Mie & Kei bring their excellent vocals to the mix, thus proving that they can pull it off no matter what kind of song it is.
Rock And Roll Love Letter
This was yet another feel-good rock-n-roll song.
Bye-Bye Baby
This was the ultimate send-off song for this album! It started off slow and emotional, but it picked up. And the guitars helped end it off nicely.
This concludes the Trooper’s Review for this month. I thank Jeffrey Branch for allowing me to experience what he calls the “Holy Grail” of Pink Lady music.
